Young Living’s Citrus Fresh™ Essential Oil blend offers the benefits of several Cold-Pressed Citrus Essential Oils.
Citrus Fresh™, a favourite blend for Cool Mist Diffusing, contains pure essential oils cold pressed from the peel of Orange, Tangerine, Mandarin Grapefruit, and Lemon. These oils are strong natural antiseptics which may work well for killing airborne bacteria. Citrus oils are also known for their relaxing and calming effect, and for enhancing the feeling of well-being in children.
Pure Spearmint essential oil is added to the blend providing additional anti fungal and antiseptic properties and acting as an antidepressant by relieving mental fatigue. Both the citrus oils and the spearmint in Citrus Fresh™ are known in aromatherapy to lift one’s spirits and bring emotional balance. This is part of the joy of peeling and eating oranges. It’s an aromatherapy experience!
Flavouring drinking water with this blend not only helps to purify the water but may benefit the lymphatic and immune systems as well.
CHEMISTRY OF CITRUS OILS:
Citrus trees produce and store their essential oil in their fruits in “Endodermal Secretory Sacs” ~ spherical sacs located in the peel just below the surface of their skins. The secretory sacs fill up with essential oil molecules as the fruit ripens.
“The one component that citrus trees produce in abundance in their fruit peels is a molecule called Limonene”, writes Dr. Cole Woolley, PhD. “You also know it as D-Limonene. Limonene is detected by your nose as a ‘citrus, orange, sweet, and fresh’ aroma….Orange oil is nearly exclusively composed of LIMONENE (95%), with only 5% being composed of about 100 other molecules. Lemon oil contains about 65% Limonene”.
Limonene is a potent antioxidant photochemical that prevents DNA damage linked to cancer and accelerated aging, and has been extensively studied in over 50 clinical studies for its ability to combat tumor growth.
The essential oils in Citrus Fresh™ blend may aid digestion, balance and increase metabolism, benefit the cardiovascular system. Lemon oil, for example, has been investigated for its potential to reduce LDL cholesterol levels and stimulate normal peristalsis (the rhythmic contraction of the bowel which aids proper elimination). 100.00% pure and unadulterated cold pressed Lemon essential oil creates alkalinity in the body, and improves the function of the pancreas, gallbladder and liver.
