Peppermint essential oil is steam distilled from leaves and stems. When properly distilled, it’s primary components are Phenolic Alchohols (up to 55%) and Menthol (up to 52%). Peppermint oil causes a cooling sensation because these components activate the same receptors on nerve endings that are involved in sensing cold.

APPLICATION & USE:
Peppermint essential oil may be diluted (50-50 in a carrier oil) and applied topically on location, on abdomen, on temples, or back of neck. If over the sinuses, be careful to avoid any contact with the eyes.
Use to massage muscles following exercise, or to sooth tired aching feet and legs.
It may also be inhaled directly from the bottle, or diffused (place 3 drops in an ultrasonic diffuser).
Peppermint EO may be taken internally. Use only Young Living’s Therapeutic Grade essential oil and following specific guidelines for using as a nutritional supplement…For example, for irritable bowel syndrome, only use pure therapeutic grade Peppermint oil, and use capsules to ingest, so it doesn’t release until reaching the intestine where it may relieve symptoms.
To thwart an oncoming cold or flu viral infection, take a handful of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) and add to it 4 drops Lavender essential oil, 3 drops Peppermint essential oil, and 3 drops Marjoram essential oil. Dissolve this blend into warm bath water and while soaking in this bath drink a cup of Peppermint and Lemon tea (to 1 cup boiled water add 1 drop YLTG Peppermint EO and 1 drop YLTG Lemon EO, and 1/2 teaspoon organic coconut oil).
For improved concentration and alertness add a drop to a bottle of drinking water.
To curb appetite inhale five to ten times per day.
To expel gas from the stomach and intestinal tract, mix 1 drop of Peppermint oil with a little honey in one cup of warm water, stir and sip. The same solution may be used to ease nausea or vomiting caused by travel sickness, stomach flu, or food poisoning.
PEPPERMINT AS A ‘DRIVER OIL’: Genuine Peppermint essential oil may also be used as a “Driver Oil”, meaning that when mixed with another essential oil, or layered over top, it helps the body to absorb the other oil or previously applied oil. This will drive the oils more deeply into the tissues, enhancing their overall effect.
BLENDS WELL WITH: Peppermint essential oil blends well with Rosemary, Orange, Lemon, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Marjoram, Wintergreen, or Cinnamon essential oil. Peppermint and Lavender have an affinity for each other and work in a complimentary synergistic way.
