Essential Oil Blend: R.C.™

One of our favourite Young Living Therapeutic Grade essential oil blends, R.C.™ (for “Respiratory Care”) is the go-to blend when congested due to the common cold & flu, bronchitis, sinusitis, and allergies, or when combating a sore throat and excess mucous.

Here at Ounces Of Prevention we couldn’t be more enthusiastic about about R.C.™ – as we have put this formula to the test many times ourselves, with younger children, and with our seniors in their eighties.

Each one found relief right away and began to show marked improvement, with mucous breaking up and leaving after one or two days diffusing / inhaling, applying a dilution of the blend topically, and placing a few drops onto a hot compress and applying to the chest area or over the back. The hot compress is an especially practical and effective way to apply R.C.™ with children and seniors.

Application:

R.C.™ essential oil blend may also be diluted in a carrier oil and applied on the chest, neck and throat, over the sinus area, and even on the Vita Flex* points of the feet. We recommend putting socks on afterwards. For chest congestion, make a ‘poultice’ with a washcloth soaked with very warm water and wrung out ~ place 5 or 6 drops of R.C.™ blend onto one side of the washcloth and place it oil-side-down onto the chest. Cover with a warm towel and leave for 20 minutes.

With three different types of Eucalyptus, and a total of ten essential oils in the blend, R.C.™ may have a significant antiviral effect on the respiratory system, and works to reduce lung infection, and decongest the lungs and airways.

Did you know that the first commercial surgical antiseptic solution, formulated in 1879 by Dr. Joseph Lawrence, and later named “Listerine®” after British surgeon Joseph Lister, contained components of the essential oils Eucalyptus, and Peppermint?

Dr. Jean Valnet, MD, World War II army physician and surgeon, was noted to have said, “The administration of diffused aerosol aromatic oils should be common practice in sick rooms, operating theaters, and clinics.”
